UIRI LEARNING VISIT HIGHLIGHTS
On 27th August, a number of ladies took part in a Learning Visit to Uganda Industrial Research Institute Nakawa and Namanve branches.
Details were shared on how UIRI can support growing and established entrepreneurs in ways such as developing products and business ideas, handling property rights and hands-on skilling to acquire practical knowledge on manufacturing products such as paper, furniture, briquettes etc.
The importance of digitalization of businesses was also emphasized as learners were encouraged to use social media platforms to promote their products and services.
At the Nakawa branch, ladies had the opportunity to explore the different manufacturing sections. This included bakery, engineering, bamboo, paper making, briquettes, pottery among others.
There were different detailed insights on the products manufactured in each section and the meticulous process involved.
In addition to learning, participants were able to walk away with a few goodies from some sections for example in the dairy and bakery sections, there were yoghurt and cake purchases.
